I know I've already heard my daughter ask, "Mom, what are we going to do for our Summer break?" If you are like me, you are planning and counting. Yes, I said counting...the money you don't want to spend on all the activities! I do want to make sure we take full advantage of our California sun as I keep my daughter and my son occupied as we are all having fun!
I went searching and I found some great things we can all do without spending too much. I hope it helps you and your family!
- Visit a friend that has a pool! Pack your lunch and visit with your friend as the kids have a blast swimming and jumping. No money spent :)
- Go to the Beach! Pack your lunch, beach chairs, sun block, etc. Call a couple of their friends to come along and Whala! You have an outing that they will love every time! I always treat the kids at the end of the day to their favorite snack at the beach. They really look forward to this and they take their time choosing. It doesn't cost much to do this. $
- Head to the Movies for FREE! During the Summer in an effort to bring the families in, many movie theater chains offer Free movies for kids. Check out these theaters and see if there is one in your area. WARNING: Don't buy their snacks!!! This is where they get you!!
- Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program: This program is for elementary aged children. You can pick up a Reading Log at your local Barnes and Noble. Once your child has read enough books to fill out the log, turn in the sheet and your child can pick out a free book!
- Library Summer Reading Program: This is a great way to keep the kids reading during the Summer and a great way to earn prizes! Check with your local Library and see what they have to offer
- Visit a Museum for FREE: I know it doesn't sound like something your kids might want to do, but on those real hot summer days it beats staying in doors doing nothing! Call your local museum, they offer FREE days all the time. You'll be surprised how much you and the kids will enjoy this one!
I'm sure you can think of many more ideas, these are just some to get you started.
Happy Summer!

AMC no longer does their summer movies as attendence dropped so low last year. but Regal is still having them. :)
